Filial Therapy

Filial Therapy (also called Child Relationship Enhancement Family Therapy, Filial Play Therapy and Filial Family Therapy) is a unique and enjoyable therapy that involves training parents to become the primary change agents to help their children. This type of therapy is based on the belief that parents are most important in the lives of their children. In this therapeutic approach, parents are trained to resolve child-related problems and to promote their children’s healthy development while conducting play therapy sessions with their children. Clinical experience and research show that parent-child and family communication and relationships are enhanced as parents learn four fundamental skills and practice their use under the supervision and guidance of the therapist.
